2010 Qualifying Information

In the event that an applicant does not meet any of the entrance criteria, as set forth by the Entry Chairmen, or the applicant's entrance criteria category does not make the field due to the large number of applicants, they will be offered the opportunity to try and qualify into the tournament field.  There will be two qualifying round opportunities as follows:   Qualifying round #1 will be held on Saturday April 24, 2010 and qualifying round #2 will be held on Wednesday May 12, 2010.  Each qualifying round will be limited to no more than 65 in the older boys division and no more than 25 in the older girls division.  These fields will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  (Information on how to request your preference of qualifiers will be sent out my U.S. Mail the first of April.)

The Scott Robertson Memorial Entry Committee guarantees 1 spot for every 14 qualifiers in the boys 15-18 division and 2 spots in each qualifier for the girls 15-18 division.  If a player is not accepted, and declares on their application that they will not attempt to qualify, their full entry fee will be returned.  If an applicant participates in the qualifier and fails to qualify a $125 refund will be returned to the player, half of the original entry fee.

Should there be an interest and a suitable number of applicants for the boys or girls 14 and under division, the Entry Committee may consider a qualifier for these divisions on April 24, 2010.  We will notify the participants in this division after the entry deadline, by US Mail, if there is enough participation to warrant a qualifier.  Please indicate on your application that you will attempt to qualify if we do hold a qualifier in your division.

There will be one spot awarded to the boy’s points winner in the Spring Scott Robertson Memorial Junior Golf Tour, in each Boys division. (Boys 15-18 and Boys 14 and under)  The Committee will also award spots to the top 3 in point in the Boys 15-18 Division to the Roanoke Valley Hall of Fame Junior, at the time of the entry deadline.

The US Challenge Cup will hold a qualifier for the Scott Robertson Memorial for New England residents.  Please visit their website regarding this opportunity at www.uschallengecup.org .

Please note these important changes in the 2010 qualifier policies.

There will be no alternate spots awarded at either qualifier date, for any division.

Any positions that open up in the tournament field, due to a withdrawal, will be filled by those applicants that meet the entrance criteria, for their division.  (For example: If we fill the tournament field using those that meet the criteria categories 1- 5, any spots that open up in the tournament field will be filled, starting by those meeting category 6.  Those that meet the criteria in that category will be called in order by their national ranking, from lowest to highest as they are needed to fill withdrawals.)

If you elect to participate in one of the two qualifiers held at Roanoke Country Club, you will no longer be allowed to be considered an alternate to the field, even if you are the next in line to fill a spot based on your entrance criteria.
