2010 Scott Robertson Memorial 14 and Under Boys Acceptance Criteria
(Click for printable version in PDF format)

The 2010 Scott Robertson Memorial 14 and Under field will consist of app. 24 players from the categories below, including additions, with spots being filled by applicants from these categories in numerical order.  Once the field is full (accepting applicants in category 1 first, 2 next, and so on), the applicants from lower categories will not gain entry, unless earning a spot through one of the qualifying rounds.  If the cutoff comes in category 3 or 5, ties will be broken by comparing each players overall NJGS ranking.

Category A
  • Top 10 of 2009 SRM 14 and Under division (if still age eligible)
  • State Jr. Champions (15 & under and 14 & under age groups only)
Category B
  • 2009 AJGA Junior All-Star Team (if age eligible)
  • Top 5 at all 2009 AJGA Junior All-star Events (if age eligible)
Category C

  • Top 30 of the NJGS class of 2014
  • Top 20 of the NJGS class of 2015
  • Top 10 of the NJGS class of 2016
Category D
  • Top 20 at all 2009 AJGA All-star Events
    (in order by date)
Category E
  • Top 100 of the NJGS class of 2013
  • Top 75 of the NJGS class of 2014
  • Top 50 of the NJGS class of 2015
  • Top 20 of the NJGS class of 2016

Additions: (apply to all categories)

  1. The entry committee reserves the right to exempt additional players.
  2. Winner of Scott Robertson Junior Tour (Roanoke Valley) – 14 & under only
  3. Top ranked 14 & under player of the Va. Jr. Golf Tour as of the entry deadline.
  4. Top 14 and under qualifier from US Challenge Cup, New England qualifier
  5. If there are not enough applicants to fill the field through the entrance criteria, the entrance committee reserves the right to fill the field by other means.  This means there could be the addition of a qualifier for the 14 and under boys division.  Please check the website for updates concerning this possibility.

Example: If 18 players apply from the first 4 categories, all of those applicants will be accepted (this includes additions and any special exemptions granted by the entry committee).  If 8 other players have applied from category 5, then 4 of those will be accepted (based on criteria) to reach 24 total.  The 4 players in category 5 not chosen will be ranked by the committee as alternates.  The remaining applicants will not earn entry.  The field size may be reduced if the number of applicants from the 5 categories plus additions is less than 24.
Note: The SRM entry committee reserves the right to review the exemption criteria yearly and make changes as necessary.  Decisions of the Entries Committee are final.

Please see our refund policies for further information.

2010 Qualifying Information

In the event that an applicant does not meet any of the entrance criteria, as set forth by the Entry Chairmen, or the applicant's entrance criteria category does not make the field due to the large number of applicants, they will be offered the opportunity to try and qualify into the tournament field.  There will be two qualifying round opportunities as follows:   Qualifying round #1 will be held on Saturday April 24, 2010 and qualifying round #2 will be held on Wednesday May 12, 2010.  Each qualifying round will be limited to no more than 65 in the older boys division and no more than 25 in the older girls division.  These fields will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  (Information on how to request your preference of qualifiers will be sent out my U.S. Mail the first of April.)

The Scott Robertson Memorial Entry Committee guarantees 1 spot for every 14 qualifiers in the boys 15-18 division and 2 spots in each qualifier for the girls 15-18 division.  If a player is not accepted, and declares on their application that they will not attempt to qualify, their full entry fee will be returned.  If an applicant participates in the qualifier and fails to qualify a $125 refund will be returned to the player, half of the original entry fee.

Should there be an interest and a suitable number of applicants for the boys or girls 14 and under division, the Entry Committee may consider a qualifier for these divisions on April 24, 2010.  We will notify the participants in this division after the entry deadline, by US Mail, if there is enough participation to warrant a qualifier.  Please indicate on your application that you will attempt to qualify if we do hold a qualifier in your division.

There will be one spot awarded to the boy’s points winner in the Spring Scott Robertson Memorial Junior Golf Tour, in each Boys division. (Boys 15-18 and Boys 14 and under)  The Committee will also award spots to the top 3 in point in the Boys 15-18 Division to the Roanoke Valley Hall of Fame Junior, at the time of the entry deadline.

The US Challenge Cup will hold a qualifier for the Scott Robertson Memorial for New England residents.  Please visit their website regarding this opportunity at www.uschallengecup.org .

Please note these important changes in the 2010 qualifier policies.

There will be no alternate spots awarded at either qualifier date, for any division.

Any positions that open up in the tournament field, due to a withdrawal, will be filled by those applicants that meet the entrance criteria, for their division.  (For example: If we fill the tournament field using those that meet the criteria categories 1- 5, any spots that open up in the tournament field will be filled, starting by those meeting category 6.  Those that meet the criteria in that category will be called in order by their national ranking, from lowest to highest as they are needed to fill withdrawals.)

If you elect to participate in one of the two qualifiers held at Roanoke Country Club, you will no longer be allowed to be considered an alternate to the field, even if you are the next in line to fill a spot based on your entrance criteria.
