Gene’s efforts during the 12 years of his involvement were instrumental in the growth and success of the tournament. His dedication to the tournament and his love for the young people helped elevate the Scott Robertson Memorial into the tournament it is today. In June 2005, the Scott Robertson Memorial helped launch First Tee - Roanoke Valley , which is dedicated to providing young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. Located adjacent to Westside Elementary School and Roanoke Country Club, The Scott Robertson Memorial Junior Golf Academy, home of First Tee - Roanoke Valley, includes a clubhouse, a driving range, a synthetic-turf putting green and a practice bunker area. Spectator Guidelines To play, press and hold the enter key. To stop, release the enter key. Let's talk. We are so glad you are here! We kindly ask parents and spectators to please adhere to the guidelines below. Please note that if any of the following guidelines are perceived as broken by Tournament officials, the player may be penalized. Advice to players is not allowed and players can be subject to a 2 stroke penalty. (Advice is any counsel or suggestion which could influence a player in determining his play, choice of club, or the method of making a stroke). Please limit your conversations with the players to words of encouragement. Spectators should stay one shot ahead of the group they are following. Spectators are allowed to aide in the search for lost balls. Spectators should walk on cart paths. In the absence of paths, we ask that spectators stay in the rough. Please stay off fairways, tees, and greens. NO golf carts will be available for parents or spectators during practice and tournament rounds. The Committee can shuttle handicapped spectators to areas on the golf course where they can view several holes from one position. Spectators should not give rulings. Players should seek a rules official if the need arises. Please call the golf shop to ask for a rules official, 540-343-1330. Spectators are allowed to carry personal items for players like medicines, food, umbrellas, etc. Spectators may view this tournament at their own risk. For your personal safety, we ask you exercise caution at all times. Any inappropriate behavior by players or spectators should be reported to a Rules Official immediately.
